Holiday Events Going On Now – Minutes from The Horizon at Laurel Canyon

It’s easy to get in the spirit of the holidays in Canton, Georgia.  Many holiday events are going on this month in Downtown Canton including the Sip & Stroll, Christmas Tree lighting and the Downtown Canton Beer & Wine Walk Celebrating Small Business Saturday.

Bluegrass/Old Time Country Jam

On Nov. 14, and Nov. 21, Canton will host Bluegrass/Old Time Country Jam from 2-5 p.m. at Cannon Park, as well as Shop, Sip, and Stroll, which will have varied hours depending on how long stores and restaurants are open.

The event is special because of the “sip” part of the title, which basically means that people will be allowed to purchase an adult beverage and walk around with it, taking it door to door while shopping.

Christmas Tree Lighting

On Nov. 18, the downtown Canton Christmas tree will be lit at 6:30 p.m. Santa Claus will pay a special, socially distanced, visit to Canton residents in attendance.

“We decided to bump up the tree lighting to an earlier date this year so people visiting the downtown area during Thanksgiving could see the city’s tree and take photos with it,” Hardy said. “We will gather for the tree lighting around 6:30, and Mayor Bill Grant will say a few words. We will then sing a couple of Christmas carols and Santa will visit with the kids. There will be no close contact with Santa.”

Downtown Canton Beer & Wine Walk Celebrating Small Business Saturday

Lastly, from noon to 5 p.m. on Nov. 28, downtown Canton will host the Beer and Wine walk in support of small business Saturday. Hardy said there will be 21 different stops offering samples of beer or wine, and artists will be at each stop as well.
